Description
Monstera adansonii, commonly known as the Swiss cheese vine or monkey mask, is one of the most popular aroids in cultivation. Its heart-shaped leaves develop increasingly dramatic fenestrations as the plant matures, especially when given something to climb. Fast-growing, forgiving, and endlessly rewarding, it suits beginners and collectors alike. Give it a moss pole and bright indirect light, and it will repay you with impressive growth.
Origins
Native to the tropical rainforests of Central and South America, Monstera adansonii is a hemiepiphyte that starts life on the forest floor before climbing into the canopy. Training it up a support rather than letting it trail will produce significantly larger leaves.
Soil and Substrate
Our Monstera and Philodendron Premium Potting Mix is peat-free, hand-blended in Yorkshire, and formulated for climbing Monsteras.
